A Publisher's Reflection

It's October 11th where has the time gone? I began this adventure in May and I cannot believe the journey this publishing company has taken me on. This post is a publisher's reflection:

I published “Through the Blinds” promoted it, conducted a reading, designed the cover etc. I managed to release my book to many places, including e-book style, while still maintaining rights and a lower price than my previous publishing companies.

I've been working tirelessly on “The Poet's Word (poems about writing).” I received submissions from all over the United States and world. So many poets were interested in such a clever publication.

I hired a couple interns who helped with the process. My goal was to introduce them to the realities and hard work of publishing while still maintaining dignity.

I utilized a talented artist to help create covers and our logo. I created a Cafe Press store with Steady Moon Press Merchandise. I created a professional website, blog, facebook page, LinkedIn group, Twitter account, Pinterest and more.

Still, the best experiences that has happened from this company is the relationships I have developed with authors, writers, publishers, readers, and people, who just flat out, are interested in poetry. It's been an amazing run thus far.

Steady Moon Press provides a voice to authors. We are working hard on our upcoming anthology “The Poet's Word” that provides readers a glimpse into the roller coaster world of writing. This company has fulfilled me in so many ways. I cannot wait until this publication is finished and is in YOUR hands. We are trying to make this happen soon!

Thanks to everyone who has supported me and my love of words.

Title: Letter From the Editor Intern:
What does it mean? Steady Moon Press (SMP)?

As its only Intern - I haven't really gotten around to asking myself, or its creator, Amanda, what it means. But having been with SMP for a quarter of a year I think I've figured it out.

Steady: It hasn't been that long folks. It hasn't been that long since the dreams of an upstart publishing company have come to realization. Amanda has been working very hard (in the fashion of The Little Engine that Could) compiling this book. Most may not know it, but compiling an anthology requires a hefty amount of sifting

(Read. Consult. Edit. Re-read. Re-edit. Reconvene. Re-re-read.) required.

It takes effort to make the image in your mind become a reality.

But I would say that this is a steady process.

Moon: I think of Neil Armstrong, low gravity, and night time.

None of these things really have to do with SMP or our steady process; no, I think the moon part is an indication of the mid-night oil being burned getting this shuttle ready for take-off. (alright, enough with the analogies).

Press: Well this is obvious, do I need to spell it out for you guys?
We're publishing a book.

Stay Tuned for More, Folks,
Juan (SMP's lone-wolf Intern)
