There is a lot of interest in the submission process. I am excited for the anthology competition that will be happening in the next couple of months. The theme will have something to do with the writing process. Details will follow and submission guidelines will be framed in a different manner than the book submissions. This will all be updated in days to come. If you have interest, you can start looking for 3-5 poems related to the writing process that may be eligible. Or, of course, you can start writing!

There's a lot going on at Steady Moon Press, a new publishing company that was founded in May. Right now we are working on Amanda Clark's fourth book, Through the Blinds, that is currently in the final stages. The book will be available on Amazon and the Steady Moon Press website (many other places online and stores as well) for $8.00. A second edition of Looking at the Moon is also in the making. To kick off some excitement about narrative/themed poetry Steady Moon Press will be conducting a poetry anthology contest in the next couple months. This will be based around a particular theme. Authors will be invited to send in 3-5 poems on ta particular topic. New and experienced authors will be welcomed. If selected, authors will have their poems published in an anthology, receive a free complimentary book, as well as receive a free author spot on the Steady Moon Press website. Although there are no royalty fees paid to authors for the selling of this book (there will be around to 15-30 authors selected) this is a spectacular opportunity for new and experienced writers of poetry to be part of a published poetic journal. The winners will receive great PR, a boost in their writer's resume, as well as the right to republish the poem anywhere else in the future (as long as there is a note that it was previously published by Steady Moon Press)
Additionally, Steady Moon is promoting the work of its talented logo designer, Joel Rudolph. Rudolph designs quality black ink drawings of states and their history as well as requested commissions of virtually any topic (weddings, activities, birthdays etc). He will soon have a link to his works on the SMP website. To start off, his featured works are Vermont History 8X11 signed posters for 10.00 each. This poster includes history and pictures/words all having to do with VT.

After this endeavor Steady Moon will be accepting submissions for books of narrative poetry. Poetic diaries, poetic memoirs, and poetic children's books all fall into this category. It may be a few months until these submission are accepted due to Clark's books, poetry readings, and the anthology contest. However, once we get going Steady Moon plans on publishing approximately 4-6 books a year (possibly more, we will see). We are a small company headed by an experienced author who has designed book covers, edited, formatted, made e-books, done a lot of PR, began audio books and more.

Note that Steady Moon Press will be screening submissions, and since we are a very small company (only publishing 4-6 books a year) to be blunt, there will be refusal letters. Clark, who has been published by a traditional publisher, as well as a literary journal, and numerous newspapers, still knows how devastating these refusal letters can be. However, anyone who has written a poetic narrative is encouraged to submit, and if they do not get accepted, keep on trying, and never give up. If you believe in your writing, you will have to deal with both the triumphs and the downfalls. Steady Moon Press will do everything they can to give serious/quality writers a chance and believes every writer should have the opportunity to submit. We look forward to the future! Keep writing!

Look for Through the Blinds, by Amanda Clark, coming out soon. Also, look for Clark's rereleasing of Looking at the Moon in the Future. Additionally, Steady Moon Press will be accepting submissions at a later date for a poetry anthology. Submit 1-5 poems and winners will be published in an anthology book along with receiving a free copy, not to mention the publicity. Good stuff. Don't forget to follow us on facebook, twitter, pinterest, and our website at http://www.steadymoonpress.com
Steady Moon Press was founded in May of 2012 by published author, Amanda Clark. Clark wanted to develop her own publishing company that provided more rights to authors, quality customer service and care for the author's vision, as well as free opportunities for authors of poetry. Clark was frustrated with the low royalty rates of traditional publishers and binding contracts. She also was frustrated with the lack of opportunities for books of poetry. She sought to establish her own company that focused on the author's needs and the Narrative Poetry genre. She felt as an author herself, with a passion for poetry, she could make this happen.

Steady Moon Press is a micro publishing company that takes care of all the initial up front fees and does not charge the author a cent. Steady Moon Press makes this possible by printing books based on customer demand and a screening process that selects quality poets. Steady Moon provides authors with the opportunity to get their poetic story out to the public in a timely and professional manner. Unlike many other publishers out there, there is absolutely no catch. Accepted authors do not pay anything, they are not locked into a contract without their book rights, and they are encouraged to participate in the publishing process. Founder of Steady Moon Press, Amanda Clark, loves poetry and respects authors, and has made it her mission to put authors first.

Steady Moon Press accepts and screens submissions of poetic narratives. If accepted, we provide authors with editing, formatting, and cover design. In addition to making your book available on amazon and other online retailers, Steady Moon will add your book to our web page, facebook page, and also distribute press releases to local papers in your community.
Your book will also be assigned its own unique ISBN if you wish to contact other retailers.

Additionally, you will hold rights to your book. This means that if you wish to leave Steady Moon (although we would hate to see you go) for any reason, you can, at any time. Please note that your book would cease in print through Steady Moon and the Steady Moon Press trademark name and logo could no longer be printed in your book.

Accepted authors are also invited to help in the publishing process. They can choose to submit their own photographs for cover art, participate in the editing process, and choose to write the back cover. If the author is not interested in participating in any of the above, no problem, Steady Moon will take care of it for you.

Steady Moon also provides authors with a proof copy of their book before officially printing their book. This is reviewed by the author for any last minute changes. In addition to the proof, Steady Moon provides the author with quality royalties, one free copy of their final product, as well as large author discounts if they wish to buy copies for themselves (although they do not have to buy anything) Additionally, Steady Moon catalogues books with the Library of Congress.

Steady Moon also provides authors with the opportunity to create e-books if they wish to expand their market. Steady Moon will also aid you in developing an audio book.
